HDSB PA Day Agendas

April 4th PA Day - School teams will focus on:

• Student mental health and well-being with a focus on the mandatory mental health literacy learning and implementation of PPM 169: Student Mental Health in Ontario

• educator mental health & resilience: Opportunities to enhance well-being, reflect on practice, and engage with others on best practices. 

• addressing impacts of cellphones and vaping on student learning: -understanding the academic and health impacts of substance use like vaping and excessive cellphone use for students 

• emphasis on technology protocols,responsible use of technology and classroom management

• address issues connected to technology use and student safety: Cyber safety and online privacy awareness training including professional learning on potential risks from student use of online platforms and new technologies 

• Equity, Diversity and Inclusion session led by Dr. Andrew B Campbell to discuss ways to create sense of belonging and disrupt racism and discrimination

The HDSB, along with all school boards in Ontario, have several Professional Activity (PA)

Days throughout the school year. The purpose of these days is to enhance student success.

Staff focus on professional development activities, participate in training or planning

sessions. There are no classes for students on these days.

Description: Elementary educators will be engaged in assessment and evaluation activities including report card writing. This is time designated by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) collective agreement.
