We frequently are asked about outside temperatures and students being outside at break times. Last year the HDSB implemented a new policy standardizing the temperature that would be used to make decisions on students being inside or out during the breaks. When the temperature (and /or wind chill) reaches -20'C, students will be allowed early entry into the school (9:00am) and will remain inside during breaks. We monitor the temperature regularly throughout the day and make adjustments as required based based on the temperature. However, what is most important for safety, is that students come to school each day dressed appropriately for the weather. That would include gloves/mitts, coat and a hat during the winter months.
