  • Battle of the Books Hawthorne's Battle of the Books team traveled to Milton Library on Monday with hearts set only on a fun learning experience having had only a handful of practices. The team worked together to answer trivia questions in a series of six battles, coming up with many more answers than they expected to know. Satisfied with a fantastic first battle experience and plans to do even better next year we returned to school with smiles all around. These smiles grew into enormous cheers and grins when we learned that Hawthorne had placed in the top two of the 14 schools competing.  This amazing result means the team moves on to the Grand Battle.  Huge congratulations go out to Iman A ...

  • School Flag We extend our sympathies to the families, friends and community members of Humboldt, Sask., who lost loved ones in the accident on the weekend.  The Hawthorne Village PS flag has been lowered to half-mast in their honour.

  • Dance Village Performance The Dance Village Show is just around the corner and the students involved have been working hard to  rehearse their dances for the big performance. The evening performance will be held in the school gym. More information to follow. Rehearsal, & ticket information will be sent home with the students. Be ready to be dazzled !

  • Day of Pink On Wednesday April 11th is International Day of Pink.  Dig into your closet and wear PINK to school. Show your support in celebrating diversity and identifying and eliminating acts of Bullying and Discrimination. To further show support, our Student Parliament will be distributing stickers to K-3 students and selling Day of Pink bracelets for $1.00 for Grades 1-8 students.   All proceeds going to Free the Children. Thank you from your Student Parliament .

  • Halton Skills Competition On Wednesday, March 28th, 8 students represented Hawthorne Village at the Halton Skills Competition.  The Skills Competition is an event where students from Grade 4 - 12 from the Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic School Board demonstrate their technical skills in a friendly but competitive environment.  Our students competed in both the junior and intermediate Vex IQ robotics Ringmaster Challenge.  Both the junior and intermediate team did a fantastic job throughout the day in their round robin matches, collaborating in a joint challenge with teams from other schools.  Teams demonstrated outstanding teamwork, collaboration and sportsmanship.
